You've been asked to organize logo golf balls for the company tournament. Or the annual client golf day. Or the sales team's summer event. And now you're Googling "custom golf balls" three weeks before the event.
Don't panic. Here's how it works.
Plan Backwards From Your Event Date
The most common mistake in corporate golf ball ordering: not starting early enough.
| Milestone | Lead Time |
|---|---|
| Artwork confirmation & quote | 1–2 days |
| Pre-production sample | 5–7 working days |
| Production (typical) | 15–25 working days |
| Shipping (air, express) | 3–7 days |
| Shipping (sea, economy) | 15–30 days |
| Total (air shipping) | ~5–6 weeks |
| Total (sea shipping) | ~7–9 weeks |
If you need rush service, ask. We can compress timelines for events with fixed dates. But plan for 5–6 weeks minimum with air shipping. Ordering 10 days before the event means you'll pay rush fees and air freight — both avoidable.
What Kind of Ball Should You Order?
Corporate and tournament balls don't need to be premium. They need to be:
- Clean-looking — The ball should look good with your logo on it
- Durable enough — It'll be hit for 18 holes, then kept as a souvenir
- Reasonably priced — You're ordering 100–2,000 balls, not buying inventory for resale
Recommended: 2-piece Surlyn ball. Clean white finish. Good print surface. Cost-effective at corporate quantities.
If your event is particularly premium — executive retreat, VIP client day — step up to a 3-piece Surlyn or cast urethane. The ball quality sends a signal about how you do business.
Logo and Design Tips for Corporate Balls
Corporate logos on golf balls have unique challenges:
One side is enough. Most event balls are single-side printed. Adding a second side doubles printing cost.
Company logo + event name + date = too much. Golf balls are small. A logo plus "Annual Client Golf Day 2026" might not fit cleanly. Prioritize: logo alone is classic. Logo + event name is fine. Logo + event name + date + location = cramped and hard to read.
Contrast matters. Dark logo on a white ball prints beautifully. Light-colored logos (yellow, light blue) lose contrast and look washed out on a white ball. If your logo is light-colored, consider a colored ball or adding a dark outline.
Vector format is non-negotiable for corporate work. Your marketing department has the vector file. Ask for it. AI, EPS, or PDF.
Packaging Options for Events
How the ball is presented matters as much as the ball itself:
| Packaging | Best For | Impression |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk loose | Behind-the-scenes giveaways, range use | Functional, no presentation value |
| 3-ball sleeve | Registration desk giveaway, tee gift | Clean, professional, affordable |
| Custom box (1 ball) | VIP gift, executive event | Premium, memorable, higher cost |
| Custom box (3 balls) | Tournament package, client gift | Premium branding opportunity |
| Velvet/gift box | Awards dinner, executive retreat | Luxury. Highest perceived value |
For most corporate tournaments, the 3-ball sleeve hits the sweet spot: professional presentation without excessive cost.
Tournament-Specific Considerations
If you're ordering for a golf tournament (not just a corporate event), ask yourself:
- Will balls be used for play, or just given as gifts? If played, order enough — golfers lose 2–4 balls per round on average.
- One ball type or tiered? Some tournaments give premium balls to VIP guests and standard to general attendees.
- Color coding? Yellow or colored balls can designate specific contest holes (longest drive, closest to pin).
- Ball marker included? A matching custom ball marker with the event logo makes a complete package.
How to Estimate Quantity
| Scenario | Recommended Qty |
|---|---|
| Small client dinner (20 people) | 100–200 balls |
| Corporate tournament (60 golfers) | 300–500 balls |
| Large charity event (120+ golfers) | 600–1,000 balls |
| Ongoing promotional use (giveaways all year) | 1,000–3,000 balls |
For play events: multiply number of golfers × 4 balls × 1.2 (buffer for losses). 60 golfers × 4 × 1.2 ≈ 288. Round up to 300.
